Persuade Me: Undecided in Ohio (updated)

Sat Feb 23, 2008 at 10:41:11 PM PDT

I'm about to embark on a bit of an experiment. This could either turn out to be an extremely educational experience or an unmitigated disaster. If it's the latter, then I'm happy to delete. No harm, no foul.

And, please, before we start calling this a 'less than genuine' diary, please notice that I've been here for awhile, comment frequently in spurts, and had my first diary hit the rec list (OK, it was 2005, but still kinda proud of that:). This is the real deal - I'm honestly asking.

Enough with the preamble. Here's what I propose (although if you've read the title, you can probably guess)...

Alito: He's Qualified!! (rant)

Mon Oct 31, 2005 at 08:10:12 AM PDT

"He's qualified."

This is the headline I awoke to this fine rainy Halloween morning? This?? CNN and its ilk are breathlessly bloviating that the latest SCOTUS nominee is qualified for the job. Congresscritters on the R side of the aisle are lining up in front of a bank of cameras to wax poetically about the details of how Alito is qualified for the job.

LIVE THREAD #3 (UPDATE) - Indictment Announcements

Fri Oct 28, 2005 at 09:57:12 AM PDT

FINAL FINAL UPDATE: Kascade Kat is hosting LIVE THREAD #4 over here. Please unrecommend Live Threads #1 & 2. You can start unrecommending this one when #5 pops up. Let's try to keep no more than 2 live threads in the rec list at a time.

-------

Terre's and leftilicous's live threads are getting full, and news is breaking as I type. In the immortal words of someone, "I think we're gonna need a bigger thread."

[UPDATE #5] Levee repairs faked for Bush photo-op?

Sat Sep 03, 2005 at 05:17:54 PM PDT

Well, according to a statement released by Senator Mary Landrieu, yes. Yes it was.

Courtesy of AmericaBlog, the money quote;

"But perhaps the greatest disappointment stands at the breached 17th Street levee. Touring this critical site yesterday with the President, I saw what I believed to be a real and significant effort to get a handle on a major cause of this catastrophe. Flying over this critical spot again this morning, less than 24 hours later, it became apparent that yesterday we witnessed a hastily prepared stage set for a Presidential photo opportunity; and the desperately needed resources we saw were this morning reduced to a single, lonely piece of equipment.
